Getting around

The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway cover the modern grid and run from roughly 06:00 to midnight. Surface traffic, however, is dense for most of the day, and rail does not reach either airport directly from every hotel doorstep. Best time to visit

Songkran in mid-April and Loy Krathong in November are the two festival peaks that lift hotel rates and tighten airport queues.

Transferring from Bangkok’s airports

Most long-haul arrivals land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), 30 km east of the city. Don Mueang (DMK) handles regional and low-cost traffic 24 km north of the centre, and around 11 km separates the two terminals by road. Visitors heading to Pattaya or Rayong sometimes route via U-Tapao (UTP), roughly 140 km southeast. Cruise passengers depart from Khlong Toey port on the Chao Phraya.
