Getting around

An integrated network of U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus lines covers almost every corner of the city, with single tickets at EUR 3.50 for zones AB. The S-Bahn and FEX regional train link BER to the centre in about 30 minutes, while taxis from the rank charge by the meter and can reach EUR 60 to EUR 75 to Mitte at peak times. Best time to visit

Winter trips reward Christmas market visitors at Gendarmenmarkt and Charlottenburg, though temperatures often drop below freezing between December and February.

Transferring from Berlin’s airports

BER is the single commercial gateway since 2020, with Terminals 1 and 2 served by the same access roads. The main motorway connection is the A113, which links the airport directly to the A100 inner ring and on to Mitte, Charlottenburg and Prenzlauer Berg. Pre-booked drivers monitor inbound flights, wait at the named meeting point in Terminal 1 with a sign, and allow 60 minutes after touchdown at no charge while you collect bags and clear customs.
