About Port Rashid
Port Rashid is Dubai’s original cruise terminal, located on the edge of Bur Dubai facing the creek mouth. Operational since the 1970s as the emirate’s commercial port, it was redeveloped as a dedicated cruise facility with the opening of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal and the Mina Rashid leisure district. The terminal can berth multiple large ships at once and is now part of a wider waterfront masterplan that includes the QE2 floating hotel, beach clubs and a marina. Most Mediterranean and Indian Ocean repositioning itineraries use Port Rashid as their Dubai turnaround port, and the terminal sits inside the duty-free Mina Rashid free zone, with customs clearance handled inside the building before passengers step out.
Getting from Port Rashid to Dubai
Port Rashid sits within central Dubai, so transfers are short. Downtown Dubai with Burj Khalifa is 15 minutes away, the Marina around 30 minutes, and Palm Jumeirah around 25 minutes outside rush hour. DXB airport is 10 km and 15 to 25 minutes by road, while DWC is 50 km and around 50 minutes. The Dubai Metro Green Line station Al Ghubaiba is a short ride away if you prefer rail, but most cruise passengers with luggage book a door-to-door transfer.
