About Hong Kong Kai Tak Cruise Terminal
Kai Tak Cruise Terminal opened in 2013 on the former runway of Kai Tak Airport, which had served Hong Kong from 1925 until Chek Lap Kok took over in 1998. The terminal can berth two of the world’s largest cruise ships simultaneously and is the homeport for many Royal Caribbean, Costa, MSC, and Princess deployments in Asia. The building’s rooftop garden offers panoramic Victoria Harbour views.
Getting from Hong Kong Kai Tak Cruise Terminal to Hong Kong
Kai Tak’s location at the tip of the former runway means there is no MRT station on site, and public bus services are limited compared with central Tsim Sha Tsui or Central. Pre-booked transfers are typically the most efficient option, with one fixed price covering tolls through the Eastern Harbour Crossing or Central-Wan Chai Bypass. Central, Admiralty, and Tsim Sha Tsui are all within 20 to 35 minutes by road.
Berths and pickup points
The terminal building runs along the former runway and has two berths capable of receiving the largest cruise ships afloat. After disembarkation, passengers and luggage flow into the arrivals hall on the lower level. Pre-booked drivers wait inside the hall holding a name sign with the lead passenger’s name. The booking confirmation lists the exact meeting point and the driver tracks the vessel’s actual berth time.
