About Miami Port - Dante B. Fascell (port)
PortMiami, officially the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami-Dade, sits on Dodge Island east of downtown Miami. It is the world’s busiest cruise port, handling more than 7 million passengers a year, with year-round Caribbean, Bahamas, and seasonal transatlantic sailings. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Norwegian, Disney, Virgin Voyages, and Oceania all operate turnaround sailings from the port. Beyond cruise, PortMiami also handles container traffic.
The port connects to downtown Miami via the Port Boulevard bridge and the PortMiami Tunnel, which runs under Government Cut to MacArthur Causeway.
Getting from PortMiami to Miami
From the port, downtown Miami is 3 km west (10 minutes), Brickell 5 km (10–15 minutes), and South Beach 6 km via the MacArthur Causeway (15–20 minutes). Coral Gables and Coconut Grove sit 12–15 km southwest, 25–35 minutes by car.
For airport runs, MIA is 13 km west (20–30 minutes), TMB 30 km southwest (40–55 minutes), and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) 45 km north (45–60 minutes via I-95). Pre-booked transfers include flight tracking on return legs.
