About White Bay Cruise Terminal

White Bay Cruise Terminal is Sydney’s secondary cruise port, located in Rozelle on the southern shore of White Bay, about 6 km west of the CBD. The terminal opened in 2013 to handle ships that cannot pass under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, whose air-draft clearance limits the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay to vessels around 49 metres in mast height.

The terminal has two berths along a 360-metre wharf and handles roughly 60 ship calls per year during the November to April Australian cruise season. Royal Caribbean’s Voyager and Quantum class, Celebrity Eclipse, P&O Pacific Adventure and Carnival Splendor are typical White Bay regulars.

Getting from White Bay to Sydney

White Bay sits in the inner west, with the CBD a 15-minute drive east via the Anzac Bridge. The route uses the Western Distributor toll road, which is included in the pre-booked fare. For travellers heading directly to Sydney Airport, the M5 East or the Eastern Distributor adds about 30 minutes total drive time.

Bondi and the eastern beaches are roughly 30 minutes east via the Cross City Tunnel. The Blue Mountains are around 90 minutes west via the M4, which often makes White Bay a slightly faster departure point than the OPT for travellers heading inland after a cruise.

Berths and pickup points

White Bay has two berths (Berth 1 and Berth 2) sharing a single arrivals concourse. After clearing customs, passengers exit onto the terminal forecourt where private vehicles, coaches and taxis use clearly signed bays. Pre-booked transfer drivers wait at the private pickup zone holding a name sign.

The first 60 minutes after scheduled disembarkation are free, which covers the typical wait for biosecurity, baggage and customs on a busy turnaround morning. Flight or onward connection details can be added to your booking so the driver schedules the pickup against your firmest deadline.
