About Doha Port
Doha Port is the city’s main cruise terminal, located on the southern end of the Corniche right next to the Museum of Islamic Art designed by I. M. Pei. The site replaced the older commercial port operations, which have shifted to Hamad Port further south, and now welcomes cruise ships from Gulf and Indian Ocean itineraries through a dedicated passenger terminal. Doha Port can berth two large ships simultaneously and benefits from a uniquely central location, with the dhow harbour, Souq Waqif and West Bay skyline all within easy reach on foot or a short drive. Recent infrastructure work added a cruise village with shaded seating, retail and a tourist information point at the terminal entrance.
Getting from Doha Port to Doha
Doha Port is effectively in the city centre. Souq Waqif is a 10-minute walk along the Corniche, West Bay is 10 to 15 minutes by car, The Pearl is 20 minutes and Hamad International airport sits 12 km away with a drive time of 15 to 25 minutes. The Msheireb metro interchange is also a short ride and connects to all three Doha Metro lines. Public bus services run along the Corniche although most cruise passengers with luggage prefer a door-to-door transfer. The National Museum of Qatar and the dhow harbour are also within walking distance of the terminal gate for passengers with a few hours to spare before onward travel.
Berths and pickup points
Doha Port has two cruise berths along the Corniche-facing quay with a consolidated passenger arrivals hall. After clearing the dockside, walk through the terminal to the main entrance, where pre-booked drivers wait in the dedicated pickup lane holding a name sign. The walk is short and barrier-free, which helps with the heavier luggage cruise travellers tend to carry. Porter assistance can be requested at booking, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles can be specified in the booking notes for passengers with reduced mobility.
Common transfer routes from Doha Port
The most-booked rides run to West Bay, The Pearl, Msheireb and Lusail for pre or post-cruise hotel stays, and onward to Hamad International for departing flights. Day excursions go to Al Wakrah for the restored souq and beach, or further south to the inland sea at Khor Al Adaid for dune drives. Education City and the National Museum of Qatar are also frequent shorter pickups. Many cruisers book a fixed-fare half-day charter combining a Souq Waqif lunch, a Museum of Islamic Art visit and a drop-off at the airport for an evening flight.
