About Tokyo International Cruise Terminal
Tokyo International Cruise Terminal opened in September 2020 at Aomi pier on the Odaiba waterfront, replacing the older Harumi terminal that was unable to handle larger modern cruise ships due to the height of the Rainbow Bridge. The two-storey terminal building was designed with timber accents and large bayside glazing, and sits within walking distance of the Telecom Center Yurikamome station and the Palette Town and Diver City shopping complexes. The site handles repositioning cruises, Japan-coast itineraries and increasing visits from world-cruise ships, with Princess, Holland America, MSC and Crystal among the lines that have called since opening.
Getting from Tokyo International Cruise Terminal to Tokyo
The terminal sits on Odaiba’s eastern edge, around 8 km from Ginza and 12 km from Shinjuku via the Rainbow Bridge and the Shuto Expressway. Drive times are 20 to 30 minutes to Ginza, 25 to 40 minutes to Shinjuku or Shibuya, and 25 to 40 minutes to Haneda Airport. The Yurikamome elevated rail line connects Telecom Center station with Shimbashi in around 25 minutes, where JR lines and the Ginza subway take over. Most cruise passengers with luggage book a door-to-door transfer. The Rinkai line is also a useful rail option from nearby Tokyo Teleport station, with direct services to Shibuya and Shinjuku via Osaki.
Berths and pickup points
The terminal has two cruise berths along the bay edge with a unified passenger arrivals hall on the first floor. After clearing the dockside, walk down to the ground floor where pre-booked drivers wait at the main entrance in the dedicated pickup zone, holding a name sign. The walk from ship to vehicle is short and barrier-free, which helps with cruise luggage loads. Porter assistance can be added at booking and wheelchair-accessible vehicles can be specified in advance for passengers with reduced mobility.
Common transfer routes from Tokyo International Cruise Terminal
The most-booked rides head to Ginza, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa and Tokyo Station for pre or post-cruise hotel stays, and onward to Haneda or Narita for departing flights. Disneyland Resort at Maihama takes around 25 minutes via the Bayshore Route, which makes it a popular first stop for families. Day excursions to Yokohama, Hakone or Kamakura take 50 to 120 minutes depending on destination. Charter operators booking pre or post-cruise tours often combine a Senso-ji temple visit and a Tokyo Skytree observation deck stop with the airport drop-off as a fixed-fare full-day charter.
Booking your Tokyo International Cruise Terminal transfer
