Copenhagen Airport, often called CPH Kastrup, is the busiest airport in the Nordic region. It handles in excess of 30 million passengers in a typical year and serves as the main hub for SAS as well as a major base for several European carriers. The airport sits on the island of Amager, 8 km from the centre of Copenhagen, with the Øresund Bridge running directly past it towards Malmö.

CPH has three terminals. Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are connected and handle the bulk of scheduled traffic. Terminal 1 is used for domestic flights. The whole complex is compact and the walk from arrivals to the ground transport zone takes just a few minutes.

Getting from Copenhagen Airport to Copenhagen

The drive from CPH to a central Copenhagen hotel covers about 8 km and typically takes 20 minutes. The route follows the Øresundsmotorvejen and Amager Strandvej into the city. During the morning rush (07:00 to 09:00) and the evening rush (16:00 to 18:00), the journey can stretch to 30 minutes.

A pre-booked private transfer is the most predictable option, particularly when arriving with luggage, with children, or late at night. The driver tracks your flight, waits in arrivals and drops you directly at your address.

Terminals and pickup points

Almost all international arrivals come through Terminal 3, which connects under one roof with Terminal 2. Drivers meet passengers inside the arrivals hall, near the exit from baggage reclaim, holding a name sign with the lead passenger’s surname. Domestic arrivals from Terminal 1 use a separate exit, but the meeting point principle is the same.
