Copenhagen Central Station, known locally as København H, is the main railway hub of Denmark. It sits between Vesterbro and the Tivoli Gardens, a five-minute walk from the city hall. The station handles long-distance services to Aarhus and Aalborg, S-train commuter lines, regional services into Zealand, and the Øresund line that crosses the bridge to Malmö and Lund in Sweden.

The building dates to 1911 and is a listed monument. Inside, the open concourse is lined with cafés, bakeries and ticket halls, and the metro Cityringen line runs underneath via København H station.

Getting from Copenhagen Central Station to Copenhagen

København H is already in central Copenhagen, so transfers from it are typically short hops to specific hotels, the cruise terminals, or onward airports. A drive to a Nyhavn or Indre By hotel takes under 10 minutes outside rush hour. The taxi rank at Bernstorffsgade is on the western side of the building, accessible from the main concourse via the Bernstorffsgade exit.

A pre-booked private transfer is the simplest option when you arrive at the station with luggage from an intercity train, want a direct ride to your hotel and need to step off the platform straight into the car.

Terminals and pickup points

The station has main exits onto Bernstorffsgade (west) and Banegårdspladsen (east). The Bernstorffsgade taxi rank is the standard pickup zone for pre-booked private cars. Drivers hold a name sign with the lead passenger’s surname.

If you arrive on a long-distance train and need step-free access from the platforms, lifts connect each platform to the central concourse. Mention any accessibility needs during booking.
