About Venice Port - Cruise Terminal Venice

Stazione Marittima is the main cruise terminal of the Port of Venice, on the western edge of the historic centre in the Santa Marta district. The complex covers several piers, with the main passenger terminals at Marittima 103, 107, 108 and 110, plus the smaller San Basilio terminal closer to the Zattere waterfront. The port is the leading homeport in the northern Adriatic for Mediterranean cruise itineraries, with operators including MSC Cruises, Costa, Norwegian, Holland America, Princess and Royal Caribbean using Venice as a turnaround port.

Following the 2021 restrictions on large ships in the Giudecca Canal, the very largest vessels are routed via Marghera and Fusina, while medium and smaller ships continue to use the Marittima terminals. The People Mover, a short elevated rail link, connects Marittima to Piazzale Roma in three minutes for foot passengers.

Getting from the cruise terminal to Venice

For foot passengers, the People Mover at the back of the terminal complex reaches Piazzale Roma in three minutes, with services every five minutes from 07:00 to 23:00 and a EUR 1.50 fare. From Piazzale Roma, the historic centre is on foot, by vaporetto or by water taxi.

For groups with multiple bags, families with children or anyone heading directly to Marco Polo Airport, a pre-booked road transfer is usually the smoother option. The driver meets at the designated coach area with a name sign and drops at Piazzale Roma, the airport or a mainland city in a fixed-price journey with luggage handled at both ends.

Terminals and pickup points

The Marittima complex has multiple piers, each with its own terminal building. Pre-booked transfers meet at the designated coach and car pickup area outside the specific terminal building used by your ship, confirmed by the driver based on the ship’s berth assignment. Signage at the port and the cruise line’s disembarkation team direct passengers to the correct area.

For departures, drop-off is at the same coach and car pickup area, where porters typically handle luggage from the kerb into the terminal for check-in.
