Málaga-María Zambrano is the principal railway station for Málaga and southern Andalusia, opened in its current form in 1908 and modernised for AVE high-speed services from 2007. It sits about 1 km west of the historic centre and handles the AVE high-speed line from Madrid via Córdoba, direct AVE services to Barcelona, plus Cercanías C1 and C2 commuter trains and the Costa del Sol regional services.
