Stockholm-Bromma (BMA) is the closer of Stockholm’s two main airports, just 8 km west of the city centre in the Bromma district. It originally opened in 1936 as Sweden’s first major civil airport and remains in use today for short-haul and regional flights. Bromma is a smaller single-terminal facility, with quieter check-in halls and shorter walking distances than Arlanda.

Annual passenger numbers vary with the airline schedule but typically run in the low millions, mostly on domestic Swedish routes and a small number of European business destinations.

Getting from Stockholm-Bromma Airport to Stockholm

The drive from Bromma to a central Stockholm hotel typically takes 15 minutes via Drottningholmsvägen and the inner ring road. Outside peak times, the journey can be as short as 12 minutes. During the morning and evening peak, allow 20 to 25 minutes.

A pre-booked private transfer is the simplest option when you are continuing to a hotel, an onward train at Stockholm Central, or a connecting flight at Arlanda.

Terminals and pickup points

Bromma has a single passenger terminal. After collecting baggage, you walk straight into the arrivals hall, where your driver waits with a name sign near the main exit. The terminal is compact, so it is unusual to take more than a few minutes from gate to vehicle.
