Frihamnen, part of the wider Stockholm Värtan port complex, is Stockholm’s main cruise terminal for large ocean-going ships. The port code is SESTO. It sits in the Värtahamnen district, about 4 km north-east of central Stockholm, with the Gärdet metro station within easy reach. Frihamnen primarily handles seasonal cruise calls between May and September, alongside year-round ferry traffic to Tallinn, Helsinki and Riga.

The complex has multiple berths able to take the largest current cruise ships, and a dedicated cruise terminal building with covered drop-off zones for taxis and pre-booked transfers.

Getting from Frihamnen to Stockholm

A pre-booked private transfer from Frihamnen to a central Stockholm hotel typically takes 10 minutes, covering about 4 km via Lindarängsvägen and Strandvägen. The route passes the Östermalm waterfront and ends within walking distance of Stortorget and Gamla Stan if your hotel is in the old town.

For an onward flight, the drive to Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) takes around 45 minutes and to Bromma (BMA) around 25 minutes. Plan to leave the port at least three hours before a long-haul departure to allow for queues that build at Arlanda on busy turnaround mornings.
