Stockholm Central Station, known locally as Stockholm C or T-Centralen, is the busiest railway hub in Sweden. It handles around 250,000 passengers a day across SJ long-distance trains, MTR Express services, regional Mälartåg routes and the Pendeltåg commuter network. The Arlanda Express airport train and the SL metro all interchange under one roof, with the T-Centralen metro station directly below the rail concourse.

The station sits in Norrmalm at the western edge of central Stockholm, a five-minute walk from the city hall and ten minutes from Gamla Stan.

Getting from Stockholm Central Station to Stockholm

Stockholm C is already in central Stockholm, so transfers from it are typically short hops to specific hotels, the cruise port at Frihamnen, or onward airports. A drive to an Östermalm or Södermalm hotel takes around 10 minutes outside rush hour. The Vasagatan taxi rank is on the western side of the building, accessible directly from the main rail concourse.

A pre-booked private transfer is the simplest option when you arrive at the station with luggage from an intercity train, want a fixed-price ride and need to step off the platform straight into the car.

Terminals and pickup points

The station has main exits onto Vasagatan (west) and Klarabergsviadukten (north). The Vasagatan exit is the standard pickup zone for pre-booked private vehicles. Drivers hold a name sign with the lead passenger’s surname.

If you need step-free access from the platforms, lifts connect each platform to the main concourse. Mention any accessibility needs during booking.
