About Paris Orly Airport

Paris Orly (ORY) is the second-largest airport serving the capital, 18 km south of the centre in the communes of Orly and Villeneuve-le-Roi. It handles around 33 million passengers a year, focused on European short-haul and overseas-territory routes, with growing low-cost capacity from carriers including Transavia, easyJet and Vueling. Orly is the main base for Air France’s domestic and West-Indies operation.

The airport was reorganised in 2019 into a single terminal split into two halves: Orly 1-2-3 (the former Orly Ouest plus a connector to the old South wings 1 and 2) and Orly 4 (the former Orly Sud). They are connected airside, but on the landside arrivals curb they are separate pickup zones, so the terminal half is part of your booking.

Getting from Paris Orly Airport to Paris

Orly connects to Paris by Orlyval automated shuttle to Antony then RER B into town, by Orlybus to Denfert-Rochereau, by tram T7 to Villejuif-Louis Aragon then Métro line 7, by regular taxi from the official ranks, and by pre-booked private car. Tram and Orlybus involve transfers; the RER C is also reachable by shuttle. None of these is ideal with two suitcases and a tired child after a late landing.

A pre-booked private transfer goes straight from arrivals to your hotel door. The fare is fixed at booking, the driver tracks your flight and waits up to 60 minutes for free after touchdown, and you skip the rank queue entirely.

Orly’s shorter motorway run to the centre, via the A6 and the boulevard périphérique, makes it the faster of the two main Paris airports for hotels in the 6th, 7th, 14th and 15th arrondissements. Off-peak you can be at the Eiffel Tower in 30 minutes; in heavy weekday traffic the same trip stretches to 50. Pre-booking removes any guesswork about the on-the-day fare.

Terminals and pickup points

  • Orly 1-2-3: arrivals on Level 0, with a single pickup curb shared between the three connected wings. Look for the meeting point opposite the baggage reclaim exit.
  • Orly 4: arrivals on Level 0 in the former Orly Sud building, with its own pickup curb directly outside the main exit.

When you book, choose the half that matches your flight. If your terminal changes last minute, the driver’s mobile number is in your confirmation email so you can coordinate quickly.
